quietly greeting the day

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23

The sun is rising but by some miracle the kids are still asleep in their beds. This doesn't happen very often in our house. This doesn't happen ever. In between pressing start on the coffee pot and curling up in the corner chair, I pick up the camera and take it in.
There are love notes from the Creator scattered about -a hazy sunrise, a newly opened Lily, flowers and rays of sunlight in a quiet room- and I feel the truth of the words new every morning washing over me.

"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul." Psalm 143:8

  1. Perfect reminders as I start my own day! I have a few minutes of quiet here as well, although that's entirely due to Sid the Science Kid playing on the tv at the other end of the house. Oh well . . . I'll take my quiet where I can. :)

  2. My morning started as anything but peaceful. Yet it doesn't change those truths- thanks for reminding me! I needed it! I love that verse from Lamentations- the inspiration for one of my very favorite songs: Great is Thy Faithfulness.

  4. Deuteronomy 32:2 Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. A beautiful new day for a beautiful cousin.

  5. Those verses breathe peace into the soul. Thanks for sharing them and reminding me of those fabulous truths! :)
    Also, could you ship your hydrangea plant to me? Mine have sadly been scorched in our August-in-June heat. They were blooming so nicely, too....{sigh}
