ABOUT

For with You is the fountain of life; in your light, we see light. Psalm 36:9

That photo sums me up pretty well -mom, photographer, messy pony-tail wearer. I am a proud USMC wife and homeschooling mama of three, who is usually trying to do too many things at once with one hand while snapping pictures of it all with the other.
I used to send photos by the hundreds to friends, grandparents, aunts and uncles as a way of keeping them connected to our growing, military moving family. One day it dawned on me that what I really wanted to share were the most special, memorable, I-wish-you-could-have-been-there moments and dumping two-hundred and thirty-six snapshots of baby's first bath into their inboxes probably wasn't sending that message. And that is how the blog was born.
I called it The Zinnia Patch, after a plot of ground where I had scattered wildflower seeds with abandon and then spent a summer watching to see what would happen. It was the zinnias that exploded in a riot of color (along with a few strong willed cosmos that towered over my head.) That chaotic garden was full of weeds, bugs and thorns. And it was beautiful. Incredibly, wildly beautiful.
Life and family so often remind me of that zinnia patch (or is it the other way around?) We are growing, changing, weeding through seasons of drought, harvest and plenty, and at times finding ourselves a bit in-over-our-heads.  To everything there is a season, and in every season, so much beauty.
This blog is a record of days, snapshots of a wild garden, a place to sit and breathe and be at peace, and you are welcome here.  It is how I remember to walk in the Light, and how I give thanks for each day the sun shines.

Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons.
