saying goodbye to winter

kate in the forest
On a sunny day at the close of Winter, we hunted for Spring among bare branches as our feet crunched leaves. The sun warmed our faces as the wind numbed our fingers.

"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light and winter in the shade." -Charles Dickens
like ants
Children and puppies react to freedom and fresh air in much the same way; running, sliding, tumbling, wrestling. They looked like ants on that great hillside.

We didn't find our friend, Spring, that day, but she was so close. We could hear her whisper, soft as a maple blossom, I'll be there soon.

  1. Mom and I are sitting here in the NavPress Publisher's Conference room, reading your winsome words thinking: 'our daughters need to be writing some of these books that surround us here'~~!!

  2. Your pictures and choice of words create such perfect posts! Beautiful!

  3. I love that Dickens quote. Gorgeous words and pictures as always.

  4. Kelli, I've been keeping up with the blog even though I haven't been leaving comments. It's what happens when you can't ever remember your passwords! lol Thank you for the beautiful pictures you paint of your life. Words that remind me to stop & enjoy all that is going on around me. Thank you for the gift that you have to do that.
