how cool is this...

On May 14, 2010, we listened to the countdown and waited for the blast off...

...before running outside to scan the blue Florida sky...

...where we saw the space shuttle Atlantis flying...flying...gone...on its final mission to space.

So cool.

  1. Ooooh, that is TOO cool. We were actually looking into planning a trip out to FL at the end of July to see a shuttle liftoff (with or without kids...that was still up for debate) until Ryan found out that particular mission had been postponed/possibly scrubbed. He still wants to be an astronaut. ;) He went to space camps in Alabama during the summers through jr. high and even into high school (such a loveable nerd). That being said, I don't think I'll show him this post...it might incite a bit of jealousy!
So glad you got to experience that!! What a great lesson 'on the road'!!

  3. Just think, if you weren't home educating, you might have missed that once-in-a-lifetime adventure! Looks like you're having a great time at Christie's house. What a wonderful, relaxing retreat location. Tell everyone I said hello.
